How to Put an iPad into Recovery mode

To put the iPad into recovery mode so you can do an iTunes firmware restore follow these steps:

METHOD ONE

Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPad to your computer.

Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

Step Three
As soon as the screen goes black release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPad in recovery mode.

METHOD TWO

Step One: POWER OFF YOUR IPAD / ITOUCH
Hold down the button on the top of your device and slide the bar over to power off.

Step Two: HOLD DOWN THE HOME BUTTON

Step Three: CONNECT THE IPAD OR ITOUCH TO THE COMPUTER
Using your usb sync cable, connect the device to the computer with iTunes running.

Step Four: WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE ITUNES LOGO OVER THE SYNC CABLE ON YOUR SCREEN
Your iPad or iPod touch will be in recovery mode once the iTunes logo (Not the apple logo) is on the screen. You can let go of the home button at this point.
A pop up window will also appear on your computer verifying that the iPad or iPod is in recovery mode.
